Harvest Dinner 2024

After 5 years, the fall harvest dinner tradition returned to Vernon Center with gusto. The crisp Fall air was a perfect backdrop to the hot mulled cider, the horse and carriage arrivals, and the local fall fare.

THANK YOU to the 125 guests and two dozen volunteers and staff, who came from near and far to take part in another unforgettable evening! And big gratitude to Andrea Maranville and family, who stepped up big at the last minute to fill a catering staff shortage.

As they would have in the 19th century, guests arrived by traditional horse and carriage from Maple Hedge Farm, driven by Collette and pulled by Cookie and Dick. They received hot mulled Clinton Cider Mill apple cider served by Diane, Keith and Jodi Towne from the Lummis family.

Everyone received and a gift bag containing a limited edition pin based on the descending dove design in the stained glass window arch, historic Vernon Center postcards, and gift certificates from Mellow Flow Yoga. They also received a raffle ticket to place in their favorite raffle basket, donated by local friends and businesses. Many also purchased extra raffle tickets to support the cause!

The Program

The Meal

Savory appetizers and dishes were served family style, prepared with excellence by Creekside Restaurant in Verona under the direction of Chef Richie Conway, featuring local ingredients.

For dessert, guests were delighted with three pairings, combining flavors from Sweet Life of a Baker and the Cremeria.

The Entertainment

Continuing the Hamilton College entertainment tradition, we were treated to music from the Hamilton College Jazz Combo, combining recognizable favorites with improvisational accents.

Supporting Worthy Causes

Proceeds from the evening will cover the cost of restoring the “Descending Dove” stained glass arch in the sanctuary, and donated to local food pantries.
